My name is Aryn Graves (Mangiafico) and I am the owner and creator behind Aryn Graves Fine Paper and Calligraphy! I attended and received a degree in illustration from Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia before moving to Houston for a short career in advertising as a graphic designer. It just wasn't for me, but I gained an amazing skill set that I was able to carry over into wedding design.
Prior to art school, I lived in a small town outside of San Antonio, Texas. Although the accent is not strong, I am a Texas gal at heart. My grandfather, Poppy, was the one that nurtured my love for art. He grew up in Houston and became a scientific illustrator for NASA before freelancing as an airbrush artist. He was fascinated and inspired by space so most of his artwork was centered around the celestial world. Not many artists have the opportunity to grow up feeling safe and nurtured in their passion (starving artists, amiright?) but Poppy was my biggest fan. When I decided to rebrand my business, I knew I needed to incorporate my grandpa into the logo. A touch of a Poppy flower to know he is always a motivator behind my work.
I married the love of my life in October of 2017! Since then, our lives have a been a whirlwind of changes. My husband Kurtis was a travel physical therapist so we moved about every three months to a new place. Sojourn Art & Ink was born out of a 5th wheel and named after our circumstances. We enjoyed those first few months sojourning in our RV to various parts of the United States... not only popular destinations, but also the little hole in the walls that we may not have had the chance to experience if it weren't for travel PT. I was so blessed to meet new couples from all over the south and create a beautiful network with local photographers and various vendors.
We always knew we wanted to live in the Pacific Northwest, we just didn't realize it would be this soon! Kurtis being the rockstar Physical Therapist he is, landed us a job here in Seattle, Washington... our dream state. Mountains in the distance, crashing waves on rocky shores, temperate weather... we are THRILLED to be here. And I can't wait to meet some local Seattle couples! But wherever you are in the United States, I would be more than happy to work with you.
My baby Tils, Till-Pickle, Manatilly, Tilly Bean (@ms_tilly_thefrenchie on instagram!) is my french bulldog and the love of my life. She became mine in college and Kurtis has had the pleasure of falling in love with her since we started dating back in 2015. She is allergic to life, always has a health issue, but we love her for all that she is (I mean, how could you NOT love that face!!!!!).
Sojourn Art and Ink just celebrated it’s one year anniversary, and although this business is young, I am not an amateur when it comes to assisting my couples envision what their special day will be like. With a degree in illustration from SCAD, almost three years as a lead graphic designer in advertising, well over a year of real client experience running my own small business, countless hours of market research on trends and color palettes, and hiring the best resources I am ready and willing to create exactly what you want for your big day. If I have not done something before, I am more than prepared for the challenge and will never give my couples anything but my best. To be honest, I prefer the challenge of creating some new and unique to you!
I want to make it clear that I would be thrilled to work with LGBTQ couples and do not discriminate based on gender, race, religion, or disabilities. I love having the opportunity to work with real human beings and celebrate what makes them so special and unique in this world. Gay, straight, bi, trans, people of color… I see you and I want you to show up as you are.
I so look forward to meeting you! Please feel free to email me or message me on any of my social media platforms with questions or just to chat.
